In other news as I'm sure most of you already know, Dead Frontier now:
- Has some cool music by Brodie Bowie in the Inner City.
- Has weather cycles, including rain, fog, daylight and moonlight.
- Has been updated to from Unity 2.6 to Unity 3.4, this should make the game much prettier whilst also giving better performance for the majority of people. It also means when Unity 3.5 arrives, we'll be able to upgrade right away. Unity 3.5 should give us yet another major performance boost for any computer with more than one processor core (that means basically any computer made in the last 4 years).
- Has non-browser caching. This essentially means that you'll only have to reload the game client when a new update comes out (approx, 1-2 times per month). This will be a big improvement for people with slower connections.
- Memory usage of the game has been reduced from around 1GB to just 400-500mb, which will help those with older systems.
Sweet. Thanks, Admin. :)

ReplyDeletePretty badass, Admin. I'm happy for this. Teh Mad Scientist thanks you. He thanks you a fuckin' lot. Once interiors and barricades are done, I'll be one happy camper. :)
ReplyDeletei was not able to play, but seeing all the weather cycles makes me not even care... I love the daylight and fog cycles, but why does it seem to just flip (almost at random) when you enter a new area... i can understand, but its not very subtle at the moment.
ReplyDeletei had a daylight one when i logged in and then it just flipped to nighttime raining.. nut it did look sorta orange-ish outside so it may have already been around what i assume to be right be nightfall... NVM.
EPIC
wow, sure wish I could play :(
ReplyDeletebeen visiting my grandparents for two weeks :/
the only thing they'll let me play is minecraft :(
Games coming along great, Neil. Keep up the good work, but don't go getting complacent again, lol.
ReplyDeletedf player ha grandparents ohh. they don't let you play this game but does it matter when you play it away from them? one thing parents or relatives never get.
ReplyDeleteNice work admin, I logged on yesterday to check out the new Unity and noticed it was less laggy. I was comparing to SP. I see at the bottom right someone entered the area... *nerdgasm* so now I can actualy record SP, mabey even MP. Thanks so much, unfortunately I've missed every double/triple exp event :(
ReplyDeletesup neil i know the NPC shops been mentioned more than once BUT they should make it more survivor-ish you have to wall off a building and turn it into an outpost b4 the guy lets u buy his stuff theres a guy for each zone green yellow and red and end his items varies depending on which zone youre on and he only carries ten items that can be found in the respective zone. dis is good amirite ?
ReplyDeleteI wish the return to outpost button was still at the bottom of the screen. I hate walking all the way back to P13 or wherever I am. Still great improvements, though.
