Corpse Carapace and Corpse Mask
To celebrate Halloween 2011 we've just released some cool limited edition equipment: the Corpse Carapace and Corpse Mask. They are only available until November 10th so get them while you can!

anyways, i saw the carapace in the credit shop and started begging my dad for some cash, lol. i should be able to get the armor before the end of the month -zombieindisguise
This armour is so cool! Planning on getting it either end of October or start of november (Like the 4th i think) This is great for all us who started after the last limited items :(
And so begins the great schism of Dead Frontier. The small nation of survivors torn between two opposing sides, the animalistic brutes of the Corpse nation caught in a symbiotic battle with those of the Dusk nation, the more classy and self-righteous counterparts.
Thus marks the beginning of a particularly ominous time where survivors cannot only fear of being ravaged and torn limb from limb by the undead, but also by themselves. It’s time to pick a side.
Just a little story I made up to complement the new corpse gear

Trying to test it in the game instead of math will only get yourself killed though seeing as 13 spider hits shall drop you (assuming that you have 124 endurance) leaving you with about... 140 durability left. That's a pretty good deal!
@ Jinbei but it is bit 'useless' compared to armours with better absorption . Anyways i was reading the Outbreak and i thought " Why aren't there any ANIMAL - turned - zombies ?? " It would be nice to have crows in 3D (somehow) or a dog or wolf or even a special animal mutant . Too bad there are less ideas for animal zombies variants ... the max are like 5 (dog , wolf , crocodile-like thing , cat and crow ) apart from that nothing else is there lol . and i dont think Admin will add crocodile-like animal and cat lolz . Or even wolf .... But I definitely want a zombie dog and crow . A dog has the HIGHEST sensitivity of smell so when you enter a area a dog will immediately come after u . And to attck it jumps and then bites u. But crow will be harder
@ Shadow Master Titanus The problem with the crow is that it would have to fly around in a 3D world, which would make it extremely difficult to create. Back in 2D they were just flat textures, which made things a lot easier.
@matt Good story bro. They should make nations! Human Nation = Lvl 1 - 25 Corpse Nation = Lvl 26 - 100 Dusk Nation = Lvl 101 - 200 To join corpse or dusk, you gotta earn it.
i recomned to use corpse armor as an alternate armor for grinding... because 400 durability makes it long to break.. and when you grinding with this armor, make sure you bring N-2 because you will die first before this armor broke... [Except getting hitten by a Leaper] lol
Personally these are the changes that should be made - perhaps in 1 year or in 1 month . Weather changes ( u can choose to have day or night or snowy day / night ) and a new boss - the flaming zed which is like the normal ones except it vomits too . ( I dont think its stupid cause the flaming mother too vomits ) p.s : Its the NORMAL charred flaming zed . Who atleast thinks that having to choose between day , night , snowy day or night is a good idea ?
Guys, the absorption rate is perfectly fine. Any higher and it would be overpowered. Admin thought of that already. Don't ask for more than what you are already given, don't complain about it. If he wanted to he could LOWER the absorption rate. 50% is perfectly fine! Do some comparing!
Highest non-str requiring absorption rate that everyone can get--- 55%! Highest str requiring absorption rate that everyone can get--- 85%! -- How much str does it require? 100! So, 400 Durability (perfect amount!) with a str requirement of 50--- should be 50% absorption! Asking for any higher with the amount of durability it has would be stupid and overpowered, which would make them be removed even quicker! Being overpowered was the same reason he removed the GAU! So quit your complaining about the absorption rate of the corpse armor.
I don't really like the look of the Body Armor but the mask is okay. I still won't get anything (including GM again) until interiors and barricading is released though. And I will have to agree the armor is kinda underpowered (for a special item like this). Yes I know it has 400 durability but that won't matter since its only absorbing half.
Also Yakkety, I HATE your sig. That fucking movie is one of the damn few things that creeps me out enough to make me so paranoid that something is gonna rape my face at night.

Hm? Oh yeah-- ZOMG EPIC ARMOURZ DURR HURR!! Srsly though, the Corpse Carapace? Not as awesome as it looks at first. Sure, 400 Durability is awesome, but does it really matter how much durability the armour has if the zombies can break YOU before they can break the ARMOUR?? Honestly, it's just an Exterminator Mesh or SN-42 doped up on N4 virus and steroids.
On the other hand, the Corpse Mask? BIGGEST. PIECE. OF. BADASSERY. EEEVVVEEERRRRRR. You don't get any more badass and/or hardcore than wearing a mask made from a human skull. You just don't.

It has already been shown in a graph that at maxed endurance, the CC can allow you to stay alive longer than the XT and Dusk Reactive. What more do you expect out of 50 strength armour?
i think it will be cool if the leaper xp its x 3 or at least x 2 since 1 hit and youre dead , no mater your armor or endurance and strenght should give at least a .25 to hit points by every point str +1/0.25 end

P.S : But i do agree that 50% absorption rate is quite 'weak' - its like a spiced up version of the Sn-42 . And the Corpse blaster is the strongest shotgun - I'm not saying the Corpse Carapace should be having 80-95% dmg absorption rate AND 300+ durability , but atleast increase from 50% to 65-85% dmg absorption
The point isn't to make this thing some kind of end game armor, it's just supposed to be a cool, halloween oriented specialty item. If it had 65%+ absorption, Admin would have to sell it for at least 2,000 creds just to keep everyone and their sister from buying one and making the whole thing pointless. The 400 durability and 50% absorption are fair stats for the price, in my opinion. By the way, if ya don't like it you don't have to buy it :P
btw, if admin reds this, i just want him to know a couple of things or bugs, idk what they were :/
While i was out looting (both during daytime and nighttime) it would lag when the music was on(not as bad as it may sound, just a lower fps) and a couple of times when i found loot, it would say:
you have found(name of thing you found). will you take it? But a few times after i clicked yes, this appeared:
You have found . Will you take it? and it freezes when that appears :(
@df player That happened to me, too. The trick is to click "no" when there's just a dot instead of the name of the loot, you will still get it, but the game won't freeze. This way you can avoid losing good loot.

Anyways @ df player For people who have Heavy Mg and loot endzone , 9999 ammo is AWESOME for 'em . 9999 is enough to kill 2 flaming wraiths & 3 flaming titans & a horde of charred zeds (female) and spiders . But I think its a bit too much .... they fill 10 inventory spaces with 9999 ammo & have 99990 Dusk Mag ammo or some type of ammo . And I definitely want that ! Cause its better than ghost ammo in just 1 sense - you have a HUGE amount of ammo at ur disposal . GA means you get max amount ur gun carries like 15k etc . 15K is quite good compared to 9999 . As DeadExposure showed , with a Dusk Mag vs Flaming Titan , out of 999 ammo - there would be 200 left .
@ lawyit Set your settings to Low or if you still lag a lot , set it to Very Low . In Low you don't have flashlight , in Very Low everything looks fuzzy & if you hit or shoot a zed then there will be NO blood but the zed will still take dmg .

Guys , I too encountered Daylight and Nighttime + mist . However I also got some weird sounds ( music off ! But sound vol on Max ) . btw I think you should get the OPTION to choose between daylight , nighttime , nighttime + mist / fog . Btw the music isn't quite good XD I miss the music that came when you started 2D game ... Can anyone give me that music somehow ? Also , when is the 40+ missions coming ? And is it 40+ missions for EACH Outpost ? Or All outposts missions added then add 40+ missions ? Sigh . Anyways give up the notion that having a Mg or Shotgun makes you powerful ! And melee is still quite good in this game . Maybe it isn't quite as good against the Exploding zeds but for the rest it still works ... and works very well . Yes you can melee a GS ( Giant Spider ) AND a Wraith ( not same time ) .
I think the way admin has the weather/day+night cycles now is perfect. Having the option to choose would detract from its realism and besides, i dont think people would be bothered to continually change to day or night, sunny or raining.
I also think the music admin has implemented suits the desolate, barren environments of dead frontier perfectly and sets a very complimenting atmosphere. I do agree, however that admin somehow integrates the old 2D dead frontier theme into 3D, its sort of like its legacy and I got very accustomed to it. Hopefully he puts it in the intro or something. Here's hoping.
@Gooberdooper He did! Who divided by zero? However, the changing weather is awsome, especially daytime, as it somehow creates a dense atmosphere and reminds me of scenes from 28 days later or I am legend.
Corpse Carapace is nothing more than a durable armor with moderate protection and moderate strength requirement. You need at the very minimum 110 endurance to achieve the same amount of total damage before death as Exterminator Reactive XT. Past 110 you can take a bit more damage, but even at 124 endurance, you go into critical health faster which is a flaw.
CC for critical builds. XT for hybrid/strength builds.
This was a great addition For people who use endurance(i got a stat reset for reloadin though) and i sold bOth my mask and armor to get a AA-12 which has been great with the 9,999 ammO boxes

Melee is good in its own right, but most people don't have the proficiency points for MGs/Shotguns, Pistol/Rifles, and Melee. And I would never go without the first two. As far as versatility goes, Melee will always get the shaft.

Melee is an essential core proficiency especially at lower levels, but if you can grab a pair of titanium blades you don't need to get melee skill. The only circumstance where you wouldn't be using melee at all is if you have a Dusk Enforcer or several sets of ghost ammo.
That's just it. It's not essential for lower levels, because it's possible(and common) to loot and level up without using melee weapons at all. Melee needs something special or it'll always be overshadowed by guns.

It was a rare bug for me, never saw it again.

@ lawyit Set your settings to Low or if you still lag a lot , set it to Very Low . In Low you don't have flashlight , in Very Low everything looks fuzzy & if you hit or shoot a zed then there will be NO blood but the zed will still take dmg .

Guys , I too encountered Daylight and Nighttime + mist . However I also got some weird sounds ( music off ! But sound vol on Max ) . btw I think you should get the OPTION to choose between daylight , nighttime , nighttime + mist / fog . Btw the music isn't quite good XD I miss the music that came when you started 2D game ... Can anyone give me that music somehow ? Also , when is the 40+ missions coming ? And is it 40+ missions for EACH Outpost ? Or All outposts missions added then add 40+ missions ? Sigh . Anyways give up the notion that having a Mg or Shotgun makes you powerful ! And melee is still quite good in this game . Maybe it isn't quite as good against the Exploding zeds but for the rest it still works ... and works very well . Yes you can melee a GS ( Giant Spider ) AND a Wraith ( not same time ) .

ReplyDeleteI think the way admin has the weather/day+night cycles now is perfect. Having the option to choose would detract from its realism and besides, i dont think people would be bothered to continually change to day or night, sunny or raining.
I also think the music admin has implemented suits the desolate, barren environments of dead frontier perfectly and sets a very complimenting atmosphere. I do agree, however that admin somehow integrates the old 2D dead frontier theme into 3D, its sort of like its legacy and I got very accustomed to it. Hopefully he puts it in the intro or something. Here's hoping.

ReplyDelete@Gooberdooper He did! Who divided by zero? However, the changing weather is awsome, especially daytime, as it somehow creates a dense atmosphere and reminds me of scenes from 28 days later or I am legend.
ReplyDeleteCorpse Carapace is nothing more than a durable armor with moderate protection and moderate strength requirement. You need at the very minimum 110 endurance to achieve the same amount of total damage before death as Exterminator Reactive XT. Past 110 you can take a bit more damage, but even at 124 endurance, you go into critical health faster which is a flaw.

ReplyDeleteFor people who use endurance(i got a stat reset for reloadin though) and i sold bOth my mask and armor to get a AA-12 which has been great with the 9,999 ammO boxes

ReplyDeleteMelee is good in its own right, but most people don't have the proficiency points for MGs/Shotguns, Pistol/Rifles, and Melee. And I would never go without the first two. As far as versatility goes, Melee will always get the shaft.

Melee is an essential core proficiency especially at lower levels, but if you can grab a pair of titanium blades you don't need to get melee skill. The only circumstance where you wouldn't be using melee at all is if you have a Dusk Enforcer or several sets of ghost ammo.

ReplyDeleteThat's just it. It's not essential for lower levels, because it's possible(and common) to loot and level up without using melee weapons at all.
Melee needs something special or it'll always be overshadowed by guns.
