November Progress Report

I've just finished uploading another update to the Dead Frontier inner city client, this version includes:

  • New anti-cheating mechanisms for both TPvP and TS
  • Improved frame rates for lower end PCs
  • Further aggro and difficulty tweaks
  • Zombies getting stuck in the air bug fixed 
  • Zombies teleporting through interior walls fixed (might still be an issue for slower PCs however)
  • Vomit through walls bug fixed (finally!)
For the next few days I'm going to be working on adding another 20 Fort Pastor missions. Once that's complete my aim is then to move on to the multi-player overhaul I mentioned a while ago.

ETA for new gear is early January 2013.

  2. 20 Fort Pastor missions? Still catering to the higher levels? At least everyone can enjoy the other fixes.

    2. Seriously goob, in the time since i first saw you on this board, i've gotten atleast 3 accounts to lvl 40+.. it doesn't take very long to level up enough to get to FP, at all.

      And with higher lvl weapons coming out in the next couple months, higher lvls are going to need more challenges to counter the ungodly damage we'll be doing, ya dig?

    3. I got two accounts at FP, but I started some new ones with my buds, and we kind of stopped just due to the dullness of the other lower leveled areas. It doesn't have to be as much as the treatment FP is getting, but a little something for the other guys at the bottom of the pole would be nice.

      It also worries me if all the new weapons will be for the high leveled too.

      not worked for me. zombies comes from corner wall interior. (when aggro)

  4. Thanks for the updates Neil. Only thing that I'm concerned about here is the New anti-cheating mechanisms for TPK and TS. Just interested in knowing what you exactly did specifically, but as long as you updated it, then thanks! :)

  6. wow holy crap admin you really outdone yourself. my laptop the one i am typing with now used to get 15-20 frames per second right before i switched to my new desktop but now it is getting 35-45 on dead frontier so what ever you did sure did work. and that vomit going through walls i thought was suppose to happen since they could vomit over them, oh crap i shouldn't be saying that you may change your mind lol

    I was tired of being killed by those bloats.
    One question:Is it also fixed the reaper-brute-tendril-spider attack throught walls or only the vomit?

    2. well the wiki is telling me that bloat and brute were a mistake and that the bloats are brutes and brutes are bloats

    3. Bloats are the ones that explode, brutes are the special puker infected. Confirmed by FP missons.

    Anyways this is nice and all .... btw new weps ? What new weps are you going to put ?

    Btw can you put a option in Menu that says " show zombies hp ( in percentage ) " PLZ

  10. Why not improve the game overall?
    Its okay just add some weapons that are already done. the rest will leave to this:
    1.Add a luck proficiency. (increased loot quality/more "?" places)
    2.Add something "special" to the Melee attacks.
    (i noticed that the firing button is both left and right mouse button) Change the right mouse button to a (heavy attack) resulting in...
    KNIVES or LIGHT WEP:left Click=normal attack=1.5sec
    right Click=Heavy attack=2sec (X1.5dmg)
    Blunt or HEAVY WEP:left Click=normal attack=2sec
    Right Click=Heavy attack=3sec (X1.8dmg)
    (heavy attack multiplier affects both normal and critical attacks)

    3.Add special effects make it a bit colorful cause its a bit dull. much like an RPG game with RPG elements. Like Slash effects. when you attack with your melee for example:
    Baseball bat = brown slash effect
    Katana = White slash effect
    Corpse crusher = red slash effect and exploding impact.

    4.Please improve the Walking and Running animation. because the player looks so stupid running/walking with his hands down...much like a robot.

    the rest of the weapons 75% of them will be added later 2013. but please read this. I would also like to help you but I'm pretty full on my hands here.....life and all. keep up the great work. Ill also try my best to personally advertise you. and your game.

  12. Admin im not sure if you read my ticket about this, but i think you should add Bows and Crossbows! for silent long range! :) i think it would be an epic idea because we'd get some Daryl fanboys/girls from the Walking Dead community :3 just a thought

    2. As it stands the weapon set-ups are well done as is.

      Melee = Stealthy
      Pistols = semi-stealthy, but gives you range
      Rifles = See pistols, but more aggro due to higher dps
      MSGS = crowd control, can focus on single target
      Shotgun = see msg, but multi frontline targets
      Explosives = see shotty, but group radius with little/no knockback or stun.

      all balanced by crit, knockback, damage, etc.

      That would kinda break melee or pistols unless you either made the bows much weaker than pistols. (which still breaks melee) AND make them incredibly slow to reload. The amount you'd have to nerf it for balance would almost surely leave you with a weapon that overall wouldn't even be worth adding.

      Not saying it's a bad idea persay, it's but you can already loot silently with melee, pistols and rifles. (if you shoot sparingly.)

  15. I love you, Neil. Not in THAT way though. The only thing that made me happy here is the vomit through wall bug. Thanks for the update! I haven't been on for a while to see the updates, but can you please remove the aggro in the interiors? Please, because every time I go to a building, I end up dying because of an aggro that I didn't start. By the way, please bring back green zombies? Not those puking ones, but the GREEN ones. At least make them long armed?

  16. say did anyone release the 2d behemoth had the same health as a current flaming zombie but just double the damage? to me it seemed like 2d seemed very hard but was actually easy compared to 3d. yet again you were slower and zombies could corner you and hit you if you were in a radies around their body like not even the place they attacked from but they could turn around while attacking and hit you. but still.

  20. Went looting today, 5 hours, looted like 30 spots total. Found 2 axes, 3 box of 12.7, half a box of 9mm, 6 box of 12 gauge. Not only is the loots I, a GM player, get suck but also the aggro just seemed to get worse, and i only use my wakizashi, but even with the wakizashi all the tendrils are running at me full speed. When i go inside a building the aggro just follows me and no matter how many floors i go up the zombies follow. Been trying to get enough money for a corpse shooter but after a total of 8 hours of looting for the past 2 days all i made was 200k added to the 1,600,000 i bought and sold credits for. This is the only problem ive ever had on this game, really hope you fix it.

    1. Totally agreed. The loot seems jacked and the aggro is ridiculous. In some areas it is impossible to loot at all. I mean seriously, are 10 tendrils coming at you full speed really necessary?
